For the third time in the school’s history, since first joining the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) in 1970, Lincoln University of Missouri has once again found a new home.
As of today, the Blue Tigers have officially made the move to the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) in all of its 14 sponsored sports (including its men’s and women’s soccer teams, each hosting its inaugural seasons in 2024).
Lincoln (Mo.) originally joined the MIAA in 1970 before leaving in 1999 to join the now-defunct Heartland Conference. They rejoined the MIAA in 2009 and have been in the conference ever since.
The GLVC now becomes one of seven Division II athletic conferences with at least 15 member institutions.
One benefit of this move for the Blue Tigers is better travel accommodations, with eight members of the GLVC residing in Missouri (as opposed to four in the MIAA).
This news comes on the same day that Stillman, Voorhees, and Wilberforce each joined the officially named HBCU Athletic Conference (HBCUAC), the only NAIA athletic conference made up of only HBCU programs.
