Charles Barkley‘s staying with TNT’s Inside The NBA for the foreseeable future, but with the NBA season ending months ago, his hot takes have been minimal.

But thanks to a recent episode of Bill Simmon’s podcast on The Ringer, the round mound of rebound had some opinions to spout—not about the NBA, but about the WNBA.

The ladies are gearing up for the postseason in a few short weeks, and one of the biggest names that emerged from a stellar rookie year is Caitlin Clark. However, Barkley didn’t appreciate how she was treated by others in the WNBA sisterhood.

“These ladies, and I am a WNBA fan, they cannot have f-cked this Caitlin Clark thing up any worse if they tried,” Barkley told Simmons before citing that he wishes the players gathered around her more, given the amount of attention and subsequently money she’s given the league since she was still in college.

“If you got people in a room, a bunch of dudes in a room, we couldn’t have came up with a masterplan with what these women have done. This girl is incredible,” he added. “What she did in college for women’s basketball, what she’s doing in the WNBA… The number of eyeballs she brought from the college to the pros and these women to have this petty jealousness, you say to yourself, ‘What is going on here?’”

Barkley praised Clark for not letting the critique get to her, staying professional, and greatly improving her game while adjusting to the league.

“The stuff about her is petty and jealous. The thing I love about her is she never says a word… She’s playing much faster, much faster. She was playing too slow the first half of the season… When I watched her play the last month I think she’s playing much faster because she’s learning to trust those girls more,” Barkley said. “When she’s in college, she’s not playing with a lot of great players. Now when you see her play, she’s playing without the ball. It reminded me a lot of Jason Kidd. He was the best I’ve seen playing without the basketball… There’s been so much negativity and a lot of it is just petty jealousness.”

Clark and her Indiana Fever recently clinched a playoff berth, but it’s still all business because it was expected, and now the real work begins.
