His resourcefulness was evident even as a teenager, when he built a house for his uncle at the tender age of fourteen.

The life and memory of Charles Edward Prater are to be celebrated in two memorial events. A viewing will be held at Golden Gate Funeral Home-Dallas located at 4155 South R. L. Thornton Freeway, Dallas, Texas, on February 28, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM. Following this, a funeral service will take place on March 1, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Refreshing Springs COGIC, situated at 1308 Rogers Avenue, Lancaster, Texas
