“To everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under the heaven:” (Eccl. 3:1) a time to be born” (Eccl. 3:2) Kathryn Delois Hamm Wyatt, was born 3 minutes after the death of her mother Della Hamm, fathered by Willie Hamm on June 2, 1935, in Nacogdoches County, TX. “A time to die” (Eccl. 3:2) She departed this life December 23, 2022. “In all thy ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct thy path.” (Prov. 3:6) At the age of 3 days she was taken by Archie and Dovie Lewis and raised as third child. She graduated from E. J. Campbell High School in Nacogdoches and attended Butler College in Tyler, TX. She has many Degrees and Certificates of Continuing Education.

Kathryn united with Little Zion Baptist Church at an early age. She later moved to Dallas where she worked untirely with the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. A. C. Horton.

“Let every woman have her own husband” (1 Cor. 7:2) She married Eddie Benton, 1953, who preceded her in death. She was united in holy matrimony to Leroy Wyatt in 1961. “He which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.” (Cor. 9:2) She was the mother of 3 children Sherman, (preceded her in death), Gwendolyn and Syretha. “I must work the works of Him that sent me, while it is day” (John 9:4) She was a worker in many Civic Organizations, a Life Member of NCNW, where she served as president over 25 years, a member of the Courts of Calanthe Register of Deeds Court. Religiously, she served as Secretary to the President of the Women’s Dept. of the National Baptist Convention of America for 19 years, Vice President of the North Texas Women’s Dept., and Secretary of the Dallas Area Field Missionaries, Corresponding Secretary to the Local Presidents and Workers Council and many other groups.

She is preceded in death by her Husband; Leroy Wyatt, Brother; Willie Hamm Jr., Sisters; Ruby Simmons, Jewel Crain, Elsie Perry, Mildred Randall, Jackie Eldridge, Son; Sherman C. Hamm, Grandson; Donovan L. Jones.

Kathryn leaves to cherish her precious memories Daughters; Gwendolyn Ross and Syretha Jones, Grandchildren; Adrian Chatman and Dojorn Chatman, R. L. Hamm, Harrison Hamm, Christopher Hamm, Rachel Betts, 11 great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren, host of nephews, nieces and friends.
