John L. Tinsley, affectionately known as “Diddy,” was born on August 15, 1936, in Hubbard, Texas. He peacefully departed this life on August 28, 2024, in Fort Worth, Texas. John was a dedicated and hard-working individual who spent his career as a foreman at Beck Construction, where his leadership and commitment to excellence left a lasting impact on those who worked alongside him.
A loving husband and remarkable father, John cherished his role within his family. He was united in marriage to his beloved wife, Creasie Mae Tinsley, with whom he celebrated 41 wonderful years starting on June 3, 1983. Their bond was a testament to the love and support that thrived within their household. John took great pride in fostering a nurturing environment for their ten children, instilling in them values of kindness, hard work, and care.
John’s family includes nine daughters: Ysletta Fike-Okai (Lovelace), Loretta Williams (Ray), Peretta Nelson (Michael), Coretta Tinsley-Tryon, Venetta Griffin, Heiretta Tinsley, Jeanetta Green (Fred), Rosetta Tinsley, and Marletta Tinsley; and one son, John Tinsley Jr. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Peggy Jean Tinsley, who passed away in 2016. John’s enduring legacy is carried on through his 20 grandchildren and an impressive 53 great-grandchildren, all of whom continue to honor his memory and values.
John is survived by his loving sisters, Lois Williams and Patricia Brooks, along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends who will forever remember his kindness and support. His passing leaves a profound void in the hearts of many, but the impact he made in their lives will be cherished and remembered.
Family and friends may pay their respects during the viewing service, which will be held on September 4, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Golden Gate Funeral Home and Cremation, located at 5701 East Loop 820 South, Fort Worth, TX 76119. A prayer service will follow at 7:00 PM the same day. John’s funeral service will take place on September 5, 2024, at 1:00 PM, also at Golden Gate Funeral Home.
John L. Tinsley’s life was a beautiful demonstration of love, family, and resilience. He will be deeply missed, yet his spirit will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him.
