Ernestine McGee Rhynes was born on October 3, 1949 in Dallas, Texas to the parentage of Ruth L. McGee and E.T. Alexander. She was educated in her early years at Booker T. Washington High School and Draughon’s Business College. She then furthered her education at Amber University where she received her Bachelor of Science degree, followed by her Master of Education Admin from Texas A&M-Commerce.
She worked at Joint Action Community Service (JACS) for almost 20 years. Then she spent the next 20 years working as a Reading Teacher and Tutor for Dallas Independent School District (DISD). Her hobbies included reading, traveling and spending time with her loved ones.
She met the Love of her Life Walter Ray Rhynes, and they were united in Holy Matrimony on August 4, 1972. From that union, three children were born and raised in a loving two-parent home in Dallas, Texas.
Ernestine is preceded in death by both of her parents, and her brother Lawrence G. Carr. Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 50 years Walter Rhynes, and their children: Cheles Rhynes (Jelena); Misty Rhynes Thomas (Roderick “Alabama”); Desmond Rhynes (Kiwana Robinson); and adopted children Corwin Miles (La’Tonda) and Amber Carr.
She also leaves to cherish her memory her sister, Minerva Weaver (Gordon Johnson); her grandchildren: Jaden Andrews, Christian Rhynes, Khorie Sterling and Micah Devin Rhynes, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and loved ones.
Ernestine accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and was a member of Highland Hills United Methodist Church.
