Born May 24,1952, in Huntsville, Texas, to the parents of Joseph Grant Sr. and Stella Mae Grant was an amazing son they named Eddie Vernell Grant. They reared Eddie Grant under the fear and admonition of the LORD, discipled under the leadership of Pastor John Bowie Sr. Shepherd over True Light Missionary Baptist Church in Houston, Texas.
Eddie attended schools in the Houston Independent School District. He went to John F Kennedy Elementary School and Booker T. Washington High School. Eddie held impressive school office roles where he was president of the student council committee, parliamentarian of Marquis, sports editor of yearbook, captain of tennis, and a member of the football team. Eddie graduated in the Class of 1970. After graduating, he went on to further his education, in which he attended Texas Southern University in Houston, Texas. Eddie completed his higher education earning his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science, continuing on to receive his Master of Public Administration in 1974.
Eddie married Frankie Grant on August 27, 1983. Born into this union were five children.
Eddie accepted his calling into the ministry under the leadership of Dr. N.L. Robinson (pastor), shepherd over the Mount Olive Baptist Church; 301 Sanford St, Arlington, TX 76011. Eddie later was recognized by his father in ministry, Dr. N.L. Robinson, with his Honorary Doctorate Degree.
In 2011, Eddie and his family united with the Metropolitan Baptist Church family as an associate minister under the leadership of Rev. C.J. Evans as pastor, until the LORD called him home to his Glorious Mansion, HE had prepared December 2, 2022.
Eddie was always business-oriented, driven to succeed, and a provider for his family. Eddie became a scholar in the field of real estate, where he worked for prominent homebuilders. He dominated in the field of sales, receiving numerous awards during his Rookie Year in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. Eddie eventually obtained his real estate broker license and started his own real estate company, AllState Realty Group, doing what he loved best, giving families the experience of homeownership.
Later in his career Eddie joined the City of Dallas, where his position was in acquisitions. Eddie retired in 2010. Eddie and his wife gained legal guardianship over their grandsons Cedric and Eric Grant at ages 9 months and 6 weeks. Eddie retired and took it upon himself to focus on rearing his grandsons with all the responsibilities that aligned to that role.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Stella Mae Grant, Father, Joseph Grant Senior and five brothers, Ray Anthony Grant, Frederick Gerhard Grant, Thomas Bernard Grant, Samuel David Grant, and Christopher Grant. Survived by his sister Jeanette M. Gatewood (Anthony), and brother Joseph Grant Jr. (Bobbi Grant).
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife, Frankie Jo Grant. His five children are Erica Renee Grant (Clifford Reed), Sidney Vernell Grant, William Joseph Grant, Chaun Howard Grant, and Faith Nicole Grant. His reasons for pushing on, his grandchildren; Ameerah Stacy Mariah Grant (aka in and out), Cedric Vernell Grant, Eric Joseph Grant, Sean Taylor Reed, Kennedy Nicole Reed, Austin James Reed, and a host of nieces, nephews, in-laws, friends and loved ones.
