Today, an updated fact sheet on continued response efforts to Hurricane Helene was released. As of this week, the Biden Harris Administration has approved major disaster declarations in Florida, North Carolina, and South Carolina, allowing survivors to immediately access funds and resources to jumpstart their recovery. Emergency declarations were also approved for Florida, North Carolina, Tennessee, South Carolina, Georgia, Virginia, and Alabama. These actions authorize FEMA to coordinate all disaster relief to alleviate the hardship and suffering caused by the emergency on the local population and to provide appropriate assistance to save lives, to protect property, public health and safety and to lessen or avert the threat of a catastrophe.
