Stressing the importance of a unified Democratic Party, radio personality and publisher Alvin Green encouraged fellow Democrats to support one another during Democratic Monthly’s Fall 2021 Publication Kickoff Monday evening.
“We need to turn Tarrant County blue,” urged Mr. Green, who hosts DemTalk360 a forum where candidates discuss issues and politics. “We have to work together!”
His message was echoed by Dallas County Sheriff Marian Brown, who showed and visited with those in attendance.
It was a parade of Texas Democratic candidates and their supporters that gathered on the rooftop of Southside on Lamar, on Botham Jean Blvd., overlooking Dallas’s historic skyline. The mission of course, according to Green and other speakers, was to encourage everyone present (and their social media following) to keep Texas blue.
Representative Jasmine Crockett (TX-100), who joked about her first term in the Texas Legislature, spent between Austin and Washington, DC kept the energy lively as she thanked her supporters, especially those who contributed to the Texas House members who traveled to the nation’s capital to avoid a vote on what they deemed a restrictive voting bill.
Over the electric music, one could hear conversations of the Democratic Party’s 2022 election strategy, both in and out-of-state, as well as the latest news of what many candidates and officials consider to be the best or the worst things to come out of Texas’s third special session in 2021 that concluded last week.
The highlight of the evening was definitely the “I So DEM Proud” shirts being offered as giveaways to all attendees wearing blue at the event.
