STANTON ON THE SCENE: Women Living with HIV/AIDS supporting one another

Overcomer’s 4 Life “It’s Your Winning Season”

By VirLinda Stanton

This was my 6th year attending and speaking at the Grace Project National Conference, and I was honored to share my message, “It’s Your Winning Season.” The women who gathered this special program for women living with HIV/AIDS, hosted by Legacy Cares, were absolutely amazing.

I was representing my organization, Overcomer’s For Life Corporation, a non-profit with the mission of raising awareness about HIV/AIDS, Mental Health, and Domestic Violence.

It was a powerful experience, and I was humbled to be a part of it and blessed to see God move in a mighty way. The conference is one of the largest events of its kind in the country.

The conference was a time for women to come together, share their stories, and offer support and hope to one another. It was amazing to meet women from all over the country, as far away as North and South Carolina, Chicago, Louisiana, Minneapolis, and right here in the DFW area. We laughed, cried, and shared our struggles and triumphs.

Celebrating the Grace Project Fashion show and 25th year Anniversary.

To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the conference, there was a fashion show, an all-women live band, called Audacity, crafting, video, photo, and makeup done by artists. It was an incredible experience to engage with women from all parts of the world and feel a sense of freedom and connection.

The Grace Project Conference for Women Living with HIV/AIDS is the cornerstone of the organization, providing a platform for women to gain valuable skills and understanding about their health issues. The conference attendees also participated in discussion groups, workshops led by healthcare professionals, team-building challenges, and other activities.

I would like to extend my gratitude to Brooke Nickerson-Henderson, Executive Director of Legacy Cares, and Dr. Ratonia Runnels, Grace Project Coordinator, for their hard work and dedication to the cause. They are passionate about serving women living with HIV/AIDS.
