For almost 30 years, area college students have been participating in the Dr. Emmett J. Conrad Leadership Program, sponsored by Texas State Sen. Royce West (D-Dallas). The program boasts thousands of participants and hundreds of thousands in scholarships awarded. Participants are involved in leadership training and community service activities. On Tuesday students gathered for a candid discussion about accountability, communications, social media and other life skills to ensure their success in the workplace and in life. Hear words of wisdom from Sen. West, Dr. Vickie Mitchell retired DISD area superintendent, Levi Davis; who served as the Assistant City Manager for the City of Dallas. Mr. Davis was also the founder in 1988 of one of the first minority-owned financial advisory/investment-banking firms headquartered in Texas, The Hamilton Financial Group. He also served in the public finance departments of Rauscher Pierce Refsnes, Inc. and Dr. Joseph Carlos, an OB GYN and one of the founding physicians of Carlos & Parnell, M.D., P.A., which has been in existence since 1981.
