The presidential election is November 3, and mailing in your ballot can be difficult. Dallas County has always had one mail-in drop-off location before COVID-19 but now all counties in Texas will be limited to one.
Trey Arnold, political director of the Dallas County Democratic Party, said he realizes having one mail-in drop-off location, even during COVID-19, is a tactic to disenfranchise voters.
“Republicans continue to suppress the vote, however they can,” Arnold said.
In other areas, such as Harris County, there were 12 mail-in drop-off locations but will now close 11.
“This is obviously an attempt to make it harder for voters to turn in vote-by-mail ballots, especially in large blue urban counties where one must travel a great distance to get to one dropbox,” said Arnold, who stresses the importance of ignoring these obstacles and for everyone to go out and vote.
