JUSTICE ?

When former Dallas Police officer Amber Guyger was found guilty of murdering businessman Botham Jean in 2018 it was a no-brainer that an appeal would be filed, even though critics felt a 10-year sentence handed down by the jury was too light.

Convicted in 2019, Guyger had yet another day in court. Last week the Fifth Circuit Appeals Court upheld the conviction, although she argued for a conviction of criminally negligent homicide instead of murder.

Guyger can have another opportunity should she decide to appeal to the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals.
