JASMINE CROCKETT OUTPACES CHALLENGERS AND SOLIDIFIES STATUS AS THE VOTERS’ CHOICE

Dallas Freshman Representative Holds 30 Point Lead Over Second Place Challenger

Jasmine Crockett

DALLAS – After Election Day results had been tabulated, State Representative Jasmine Crockett, congressional candidate for TX-30, issued the following statement:

“The people of District 30 supported our unifying message focused on the bread and butter issues that keep us up late into the midnight hours, and the hopes and aspirations that get us out of bed in the morning. We focused on opportunity, equality, and justice for all.

“I thank the voters for doing whatever it took to get to the polls and cast their ballots— because you made your voice heard, we’ve moved forward in this election with a resounding mandate to lead. The campaign trail has been fast and hard, and I commend the voters for cutting through the noise, false attacks, and political rhetoric designed to distract us all from the real work ahead.

“After the votes had been counted, we held on to our commanding lead, remaining 30% ahead of the second place challenger, but amongst the crowded field with eight opponents, we fell a few votes shy of winning 50%. This means that this race will go into a runoff and I will be asking you to come out and vote once again. Mark your calendars now for May 24, 2022 — the day we win this election and take our fight to Washington.

“This is your call to action — the work starts now! Sign up to volunteer, donate, make a plan to go vote and make sure everyone you know is doing the same.

“I want to thank my team, every volunteer, every Democratic organization that supported our campaign, all the community leaders and elected officials who endorsed our campaign. I would be remiss if I did not thank Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson for calling on me to run, for her mentorship and guidance, for shattering ceilings for me, and for her decades of public service for us. Above all else, I thank you, the people, for voting and placing your trust in me. I remain ready to serve on day one and committed to a smooth transition from Congresswoman Johnson’s administration to ours.”
