Former Dallas Deputy Chief Thomas Glover Named New Lafayette Police Chief

Thomas Glover Sr. has been named the new chief of the Lafayette Police Department. The former president of the Black Police Association of Greater Dallas was one of three finalists for the post and is the first permanent Black department chief.

Glover was born in Talluah, Louisiana and earned his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Grambling State University; which is also the alma mater of outgoing Dallas Police Chief U. Renee Hall. In 2017, he retired as a lieutenant from the Dallas Police Department after 39 years.

He also served as deputy chief, Communications 911 Commander, Detention Services Commander, Personnel & Development Division Commander; and also in Domestic Violence Unit, Property Crimes and recruiting.
