Deployed DeSoto firefighters actively assisting Texas Residents in hard hit areas with recovery efforts

We have an update for you on the status of the DeSoto firefighters who were deployed last weekend to join a Strike Team of North Texas Fire Departments in advance of Hurricane Beryl. Our team members have been temporarily based in Houston and on Friday assisted residents in the hardest hit areas of Freeport and Surfside Beach with submitting damage assessments. The accompanying photos were taken on Friday.

Four DeSoto firefighters and a reserve fire engine joined a joint North Texas Strike Team with fire crews from Arlington, Midlothian, Grand Prairie, Ft. Worth, and College Station last weekend before Beryl made landfill. DeSoto Fire also sent a representative to serve with firefighters from Cedar Hill and Duncanville on Cedar Hill’s high capacity AMBUS which can accommodate up to ten patients.

DeSoto and the other North Texas Departments responded under the Texas Interstate Fire Mutual Aid System (TIFMAS).

Our crews are typically deployed for up to 14 days at a time.
