On March 13, 1972 in Houston, Texas, the world was introduced to the magic and beauty of Deloris Jean Lee. The proud parents were Carrie Jean (Lewis) and Clarence Lee. While Deloris lost her father at a young age, she carried his affectionate term for her, “Suga Dumplin,” throughout her entire life.
With her sense of care, style and vivacious smile, Deloris grew into a young woman in Dallas, graduating as a “Mighty Eagle” from Wilmer-Hutchins High School in 1990. She began her college career at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas and later concluded her studies at Paul Quinn College in Dallas, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice.
Deloris married her high school sweetheart, Kelvin Jones. Although the marriage was dissolved, it resulted in what she always termed her “Precious Gift from God,” daughter Kierstyn MaKenna Jones.
A doting mother, Deloris worked hard and constantly to provide for her only child, Kierstyn, with one of her proudest moments being watching her daughter cross the stage as a college graduate from Prairie View A&M University.
Deloris spent numerous years as a Senior District Parole Officer with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) in Dallas, Texas. She was highly regarded in her profession, with offenders under her supervision having utmost respect for her diligence and compassion in providing them with resources and opportunities to get back on track and avoid recidivism.
She retired from TDCJ in 2022, after having launched her company, Infinite Investigative Solutions in 2021, serving as a licensed private investigator.
Previously affiliated with Beautiful Black Women (BBW), Deloris was initiated into the Omega Alpha Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., in 2019, alongside her 34 coinitiates. She was always on hand to support others in need; never hesitating to step up and serve.
A solid rock of depend-ability among her family and friends, Deloris assisted with caring for her mother and was a constant source of support for her two sisters, other family members and dear friends.
Deloris departed her earthly vessel on Oct. 15, 2023 and is now an angel watching over her daughter, Kierstyn; mother, Carrie Nelson; sisters Pamela Lee and Jerri Gauthier; Godson Tyrone (Scooter) Humphrey, Jr.; Goddaughter Cecily Simone Coleman; nieces, nephews and a host of many other relatives and friends. Her absence leaves a void that can never be filled.
