Dallas County Commissioner John Wiley Price and a host of elected officials, public servants, and citizens will officially open the new state-of-the-art Mesquite Government Center facility at 500 S. Galloway Avenue at 10 o’clock on Friday, November 15, 2024.

In 1962, Dallas County, seeking to serve its citizens better, constructed a court building at 823 North Galloway in Mesquite, Texas, and in 1986, expanded its footprint to include a 4,000 square-foot tax office, which is the third busiest of the seven offices it operates today.

In 2021, an official Court Order put the gears in motion that set forth negotiations between Mesquite and Dallas County. This collaboration resulted in a real property exchange and a 5.52-acre site for new construction on South Galloway.

The new edifice will be a 56,325 square-foot, two-story building and the new home for a Sheriff’s office, dispatch center, election room, justice of the peace courts, constables, and staff amenities, including dining space and a fitness area.

This new community room will be named after one of the city’s historic and long-standing officials, Mesquite City Manager Cliff Keheley. Keheley began his career with the city in 1994 and has been integral in the city’s growth, development, and overall health since then.
