Communities Foundation of Texas is engaging a team of sports legends to champion North Texas Giving Day, the largest community-wide giving event in the nation. World Series Champion and Texas Rangers first baseman Nathaniel Lowe kicked off the effort as North Texas Giving Day Ambassador, and legends from DFW sports franchises join him in encouraging the community to be ‘Champions of Giving’ for local nonprofits.

Lowe captains a star-studded sports team of players and legends from the Dallas Cowboys, Dallas Stars, Dallas Mavericks, FC Dallas, and Dallas Wings in encouraging even more donations on North Texas Giving Day. Athletic champions like Dallas Cowboy Zack Martin, Dallas Maverick Quentin Grimes, NBA All-Star and Dallas Mavericks legend Rolando Blackman, and three-time NHL All-Star and former Dallas Stars goaltender Marty Turco are all now part of the North Texas Giving Day team. In addition, Dallas Wings guard Jacy Sheldon, Dallas Wings center Jaelyn Brown, and FC Dallas’ Paul Arriola lend their support, making plays, and urging wins for local nonprofits this North Texas Giving Day.

“We believe everyone in our community can be champions of giving, donating difference-making dollars to the causes they care about,” said Wayne White, Communities Foundation of Texas President and CEO. “With beloved local sports champions leading the way, we’re anticipating a huge victory for the thousands of local nonprofit partners we uplift through North Texas Giving Day.”

The online giving period began September 1, 2024 at NorthTexasGivingDay.org and continues through September 19, 2024. North Texas Giving Day empowers every person to give back to their community by supporting causes they care about on one easy-to-use platform where one hundred percent of online gifts donated go directly to local nonprofits.

“Everybody has the opportunity to go out and help somebody get better,” said Nathaniel Lowe, whose personal cause of choice is cancer research. “As a team, we can get better together and we should definitely push to improve. It takes a dedicated team to bring North Texas Giving Day to life, and I’m proud to be a part of it.”

Over the last 15 years, North Texas Giving Day has grown to become the largest regional fundraising event in the Nation, raising over $60 million dollars for nonprofits in 2023.
