Cedar Hill ISD announces Class of 2025 Longhorn Legacy Athletic Hall of Honor

Cedar Hill- The Cedar Hill ISD Athletic Department has announced the Class of 2025 Longhorn Legacy Athletic Hall of Honor.

The inductees, who will be presented in the April 5 ceremony at the Cedar Hill ISD Performing Arts Center (PAC), are Arthur McMahan (Class of 1975), Tim Knight (Class of 1977), Zoderick Green (Class of 1991), Dezmon Briscoe (Class of 2007), Thomas Gipson (Class of 2011) and the 2008-2009 CHHS Boys Basketball Team which finished second in the State Tournament.

McMahan earned eight varsity letters (three each in golf and track, plus two in football). He was a two-time state track qualifier and a district golf medalist as a junior. McMahan still holds the CHHS Pole Vault Record (13-6), which he set in 1975.

Knight earned 10 varsity letters (three each in football and track; two each in basketball and golf). He was a Senior Class Officer who was voted Mr. CHHS and Most Athletic in 1977.

Green was an All-District Basketball Player as a junior and went on to earn All-American Honors at the University of Central Oklahoma, from 1993 through 1995. He played professional basketball in China, Lithuania, France and Cyprus.

Briscoe was a senior on the first CHHS Football Team to win a State Championship in 2006. He went on to star for the University of Kansas Football Team, helping the Jayhawks win the Orange Bowl as a freshman.

 As a sophomore, he caught 92 passes for 1,407 yards and 15 touchdowns, including a 269-yard receiving game against eventual national runner-up; Oklahoma.

Briscoe played in the NFL for Cincinnati, Tampa Bay, Washington and Dallas.

Gipson was a sophomore on the CHHS 2008-09 State Runner-Up Basketball Team. He was a four-year basketball letterwinner for the Longhorns and signed with Kansas State University where he shared the Rolando Blackman Team MVP Award. 

Gipson currently plays for Kouvot in Finland – the team he started his professional career with a decade ago. He also played professional basketball in Mexico, France, Ukraine, Panama, Argentina, Turkey and Israel.
The 2008-2009 CHHS Boys Basketball Team finished 35-4 under the direction of the late, great David Milson. The team members were Tanner Milson, Clayton Bright, Tayler Jacobs, Shawn Glover, Jourdan Isom, Delton Doxey, Kendrick Fuggett, Billy Johnson, Jerran Young, Zeldrick King,  Thomas Gipson, Bryce Pierson, Marques Johnson and Oliver Wells

Coaches were David Milson, Vernal Cole, Billy Linson, Cliff McDaniel, David Lightfoot, Garrett Hilton, Doug Barnett, and Joe Benjamin.

The trainer was David Young, and the managers were Thang Nguyen, April Johnson, Sharne Glover and Caleb Collins.
