WHO/WHAT: Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) of America CEO, Pam Iorio, and Dallas Police Chief U. Reneé Hall will speak about Bigs in Blue at a special breakfast honoring those law enforcement officers and city employees that have volunteered as mentors through BBBS. Bigs in Blue is an initiative that pairs law enforcement officers, first responders, and city employees with children on Big Brothers Big Sisters’ waitlist. Iorio launched Bigs in Blue on a national level in 2016 and helped launch the initiative in Dallas in 2017. Chief Hall has been a strong advocate of Bigs in Blue and was a Big with BBBS for nine years in Detroit.
Chief Hall will be joined by other Bigs in Blue volunteers and supporters from across the Greater Dallas area. During the breakfast, BBBS will also announce details about a local Bigs in Blue Summit that will take place this summer.

WHY:
Bigs in Blue is an initiative that pairs police officers and city employees with children on Big Brothers Big Sisters’ waitlist. The initiative seeks to build empathy between law enforcement officers, first responders, city employees, and youth in the communities they serve. Like other Big Brothers Big Sisters programs, the initiative helps children to improve their academic success and personal development in order to unlock their greatest potential. The Bigs in Blue initiative is working towards developing the next generation of Greater Dallas citizens.
