DART Increases Service in October

DART Increases Service in October

By Ashley Moss
Staff Writer

As the North Texas economy slowly reopens in the wake of COVID-19, Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) will be implementing major changes in bus, rail and GoLink service starting Monday, October 19, beginning with a restoration of service to several routes and an increase in frequency of others. While not completely back to pre-pandemic levels, the service increase will amount to just under 90 percent.

Additionally, seven high-volume bus routes and light rail service will run every 20 minutes weekdays until 7 pm with an increase to 30-minute frequency thereafter. Weekend service will remain unchanged. A Western Carrollton GoLink service, which has been operating on a trial basis since May 11, will also become permanent, while 65 routes with higher ridership and potential for social distancing concerns, plus the Trinity Railway Express (TRE), will return to pre-pandemic service levels. Several routes will be discontinued, modified or replaced, including  the following: 27, 42, 155, 210, 211, 385, 585, 840 and 887.

An additional 48 routes in the system will remain on their current modified schedules. Additional details on the October service changes may be found at DART.org/ServiceChange or by calling (214) 979-1111.
