DALLAS — A North Texas native was crowned Miss Texas 2024.

Saturday, Ghanan-born Annette Addo-Yobo earned the Miss Texas title. The North Texan competed as Miss Southlake, but in 2023, she was also crowned Miss Dallas.

Addo-Yobo was born in Ghana, but grew up in the U.S. and Canada. Now a U.S. citizen, her North Texas roots run deep. In 2020, she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in psychology from UTD.

For her talent portion, Addo-Yobo performed a powerful spoken word promoting autism awareness. The topic hits home for Addo-Yobo, whose brother is on the autism spectrum.

“The Miss Texas crown is much bigger than me,” Addo-Yobo said in an Instagram post. “This crown is for every young child, teenager, and adult on the spectrum who felt alienated, abandoned, stereotyped, and unseen because of their different abilities.”
