In the midst of life’s clamor and confusion, there existed a stalwart beacon of wisdom and faith, Lucille “Big Mama” Allen. Known and respected by a vast audience of 235 relatives spanning multiple generations, Big Mama was more than a matriarch; she was a sage, a guiding light whose words resonated deeply within the hearts of those who knew her.
She left me with this Mother’s day lesson. Big Mama’s life was a testament to the importance of listening to the whispers of God amidst the LOUD NOISE of other stuff.
Her oft-repeated teachings, “You have to learn to listen to the whispers of God before a brick falls on your head,” were overridden by her profound understanding of divine guidance. Through this one particular teaching, “Big Mama’s Said: Listen to God’s Whispers Or the Devil will Hit you with a Brick,” she instilled in her family the significance of recognizing their worthiness in the eyes of God and the dangers of disregarding God’s gentle nudges.
The legendary conversations that took place on Big Mama’s back porch were not merely exchanges of words; they were moments of spiritual communion. Amidst the chaos of the world, her whispers of wisdom drowned out the noise, offering clarity and solace to those who sought her counsel.
Reflecting on my own journey, I recall moments when pride and E.G.O. Easing God Out led me in the driver’s seat, blinding me to the whispers of the BIG Mama’s wisdom.
Yet, through prayer and introspection, I discovered the power of surrendering my E.G.O. to God’s plan. Big Mama’s teachings echoed in my heart, reminding me that true strength lies in listening to the whispers.
Despite my Hits and Misses, God’s grace remained unwavering. Those ancestral whispers of conviction gently guided me back to the path of righteousness, filling me with a renewal of what my gift was and what my assignment is!
In a world fraught with distraction and discord, Big Mama’s legacy stands as a beacon of hope and wisdom. Her words, like gentle whispers amidst all the loud sounds, continue to guide us through life’s tumultuous waters.
May we all heed Big Mama’s timeless advice and learn to listen to God’s whispers in the midst of the noise.
