Pedestrian dies after hit by SUV in east Oak Cliff neighborhood, police say

The crossing light was on “no crossing” when the SUV hit the man.

A man died Saturday after being struck by a SUV while he was in a crosswalk in the east Oak Cliff neighborhood, according to Dallas Police.

The pedestrian, who has not yet been identified, was using a crosswalk in the 3800 block of E. Illinois Avenue around 9 p.m. when a gray 2011 GMC Terrain SUV hit him.

The crossing light was on “no crossing” when the SUV hit the man in the middle of the three-lane roadway, police said. The driver “immediately stopped” and remained at the scene.

The pedestrian was taken to a local hospital where he died.

It does not appear that any charges have been filed.
