A 48-year-old man has been arrested in connection to a fatal shooting early Thursday in the Red Bird area of Dallas, police said.

Patrick Stewart was arrested Saturday and faces a murder charge in the slaying of 54-year-old Roy Eddie Williams. It’s unclear whether he has an attorney.

Dallas police officers who responded about 2:30 a.m. Thursday to the 100 block of West Laureland Road, near Interstate 35E, found Williams with a gunshot wound to the chest.

Williams was taken to a hospital and died from his injuries, police said.

Stewart was being held in the Dallas County jail Sunday.
