DESOTO FIRE TEAM MEMBERS HELP  EAST TEXAS RESIDENTS PICK UP  AFTER BERYL

Now that Hurricane Beryl has left Texas as a weakened Tropical Depression, the DeSoto Firefighters who went down to East Texas to help with emergencies are now operating in more of a “recovery” capacity. They are now helping residents of the impacted areas deal with storm damage and are lending a hand picking up the pieces and assisting with any additional duties that are needed.

Because our personnel are under separate command during their deployment, we don’t maintain regular contact or have specific details to pass on, but we do have the photos that you can see below from their initial weekend arrival in College Station.

DeSoto Fire Rescue deployed one of its reserve fire engines with four department members to join a Strike Team with fire departments from Arlington, Midlothian, Grand Prairie, Ft. Worth, and College Station as part of the Texas Interstate Fire Mutual Aid System (TIFMAS). DeSoto Fire also deployed one firefighter to serve with others from Cedar Hill and Duncanville on Cedar Hill’s AMBUS which is an extremely large ambulance that can carry more than ten patients at a time.

Generally these type of deployments last 14 days, but we will continue to monitor the situation to see how much longer additional assistance is needed.
