The Texas Democratic Party kicked off their general election Vote-by-Mail Fund this week. Expected to be the largest vote-by-mail program in their organization’s history, according to organizers, the Vote-by-Mail program will send more than 815,000 applications to eligible voters in Texas throughout the month of August. The total number of applications in this cycle could top 1.75 million; also the largest in Texas Democratic Party history.
Texas Democratic Party Executive Director Manny Garcia emphasized the importance of voting-by-mail: “Close elections are won or lost with vote-by-mail. And now more than ever, voting by mail is the safest option for our seniors,” he said. “To send every eligible Democrat an application, we need Texans from across our state chipping in what they can. That’s why we launched our General Election Vote-by-Mail Fund, so we can fully-fund our most expansive vote-by-mail program ever.”
Texas residents can request a mail-in ballot if they are: 65 years or older, disabled, out of the county on election day or during early voting, formerly incarcerated but not convicted, or someone who was formerly incarcerated and is now off paper.
