DALLAS — At the request of Mayor Eric Johnson’s Domestic Violence and Human Trafficking Advisory Council, the City of Dallas has published a comprehensive and interactive Domestic Violence dashboard.
The dashboard aims to increase community awareness about domestic violence and to provide real-time quantitative reporting of domestic violence from the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office and local shelters.
Mayor Johnson established the Advisory Council in 2020, reinvigorating the work of the former City of Dallas Domestic Violence Task Force. The Advisory Council, which is co-chaired by City Councilmember Gay Donnell Willis and former City Councilmember Jennifer Staubach Gates, has worked to develop the dashboard with city staff, the Dallas Police Department, and community partners.
The data provided on the dashboard is collected and refreshed daily by the Dallas Police Department. Interactive elements of the dashboard include:
- Crimes by Month
- Crime Map
- Victim Age
- Victim Gender
- Victim Ethnicity/Gender
“The Mayor’s Domestic Violence and Human Trafficking Advisory Council is motivated by our belief that everyone in our city deserves to feel safe in their community and in their own home,” said Mayor Johnson. “This coalition of government agency partners, nonprofit service providers, and private-sector advocates have worked hard to address the devastation caused by domestic violence.”
