WASHINGTON, DC: Energy and Commerce Committee leaders, including Rep. Joe Barton sent letters to Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius and Treasury Secretary Jack Lew questioning the process, communications, and timeline behind the decision to delay implementing the employer mandate of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) until 2015.
Rep. Joe Barton issued the following statement regarding the Obama administration’s decision and subsequent Energy and Commerce Committee letter:
“President Obama’s choice to delay implementing the employer mandate only underscores the point Republicans have been pressing for years: this is not a good law, it adversely affects job-creating businesses, and is too burdensome in its present form to implement on a national level. While this isn’t a long term solution to the train wreck that is Obamacare, it is a first crack in the Obama administration’s resolve to push this unwanted law on hardworking American people.”
